Phillips took a six-game hitting streak into today’s game. He was 8-for-21 (.381) with two doubles and three RBI during the streak.

Phillips hit .155/.210/.190 in his first 15 games after coming off the disabled list after tearing a ligament in his left thumb. He’s hitting .381/.409/.476 since.

Obviously, Phillips’ hitting is key to the Reds’ offense. If he, Jay Bruce and Joey Votto can return to their 2013 numbers, the Reds have a chance to contend in 2015.
